Basic information on the impact resistance indicator of enclosures "IK Code (Impact Protection Rating)"
The enclosures and control panels are used in various locations around the world and are subject to strict safety requirements. To meet these requirements, protection level testing that focuses on external influences such as foreign objects and water, as well as various external stresses on electrical equipment, plays an important role.
The relevant protection level that defines the impact resistance of enclosures is called the IK code (impact protection rating). The classification of IK is defined using testing methods in accordance with the IEC 62262 standard. This document introduces basic information about the IK code, an explanation of IEC 62262, the IK testing, and the current testing methods at the Rittal testing facility in Herborn, Germany.
